Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international non-governmental organization that supports humanitarian workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO South Sudan

Founded in 2018, INSO South Sudan addresses the precarious operating environment that all NGOs face in the country. The platform currently supports 246 NGOs, including a large number of local partners, improving security preparedness and providing support through reports, alerts, trainings and more. We cover all ten states and three administrative zones of South Sudan with a country office in Juba and field offices in Yambio, Wau, Rumbek, Bentiu, Malakal and Bor. Working with INSO South Sudan offers you the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing program alongside a diverse team.

We are now hiring our security advisor – mobile. This position is based in Juba and reports to the Deputy Director.

Job summary:

As a Security Advisor – Mobile, you will work as part of a close-knit team that will provide security analysis and advice that is not only among the best of its kind, but is also essential to the efforts of the NGO community to provide help and assistance to the thousands of people in need. You will be outgoing and resilient, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and contexts, provide practical and sound security advice.

Main responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain an active information network, which includes NGOs, UN, military forces, etc. to obtain credible and relevant safety information.
  • Provide NGOs with timely and credible security information and contextual analysis of the local security situation.
  • Facilitate and lead regional NGO community safety roundtables.
  • Help NGOs develop their own security management capabilities and assist with planning for crisis evacuations.
  • Manage a small office team, including supervision of national staff and oversight of local logistics and administration.
  • Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO’s mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Education at Masters level or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Proven writing, editing and analytical skills.
  • Experience in insecure/conflict affected environments.
  • Personal and professional resilience in a fast-paced, high-return, quality-driven program.
  • Experience in the humanitarian and/or risk management and/or humanitarian access sectors.
  • Independence, motivation and excellence, and ability to operate and sustainably manage staff and teams within strict systems and deadlines.
  • Well-developed personal, organizational and team management skills and standards in a diverse multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian security practices and principles.

Terms and conditions:

12 month contract, salary of €4,550 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month and 7 calendar days of R&R every two months, €1,250 per R&R cycle, accommodation, worldwide medical coverage (outside the United States) and $200,000 of AD&D coverage.
