Dollar Loan Center, Henderson Holds Career Fairs Ahead of New Arena Opening | News

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The City of Henderson and the Dollar Loan Center have teamed up to host two upcoming career fairs at Lifeguard Arena in Henderson.

The first was Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A queue gathered outside before the doors opened for the job fair. Within two hours, more than 400 people had entered in search of employment.

The Dollar Loan Center and the City of Henderson have sought to fill various positions in the new arena in anticipation of the opening of the Dollar Loan Center in March.

Vacancies included security guards, guest services, ticket clerks, audio-visual technicians, bartenders, cashiers and retailers.

“I think it would be pretty cool to work in the sports industry,” said Henderson resident Jackson Singletary. “I like [Golden] Knights. I watch them all the time.”

Singletary sees getting a job at the Dollar Loan Center as the start of a possible career.

“We’re going to be putting on some fantastic events,” said DLC Vice President of Events Darren Davis. “We’ve got the Henderson Silver Knights, we’ve got the Knight Hawks, and we’re going to do some gigs. You name it, we do. It’s going to be a very electric workplace.”

Amid a labor shortage and what many call “the great resignation”, there was an appetite for work in the new arena.

Some of the job seekers told FOX5 they liked the idea of flexible hours and a single new workplace.

The next job fair is Saturday, February 12 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Lifeguard Arena is pictured at 222 S Water St, Henderson, NV 89015 on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
